I would like to take out dying azalea bushes that have not recovered since Katrina. I would like to plant a fern tree and boxwood bushes. So many homes in Baton Rouge, LA have monkey grass around their trees and in front of bushes. Can you recommend some hardy bushes and trees that are appropriate in the scorching heat of Lousiana? |

Tea Olive (Oamanthus fragrans), 8'+ H x 5'+ W, full sun or part shade. Highly fragrant white flowers through out the spring and fall. Trees might include crape myrtle, fig, citrus, blueberry, pawpaw, pomegranate and persimmon. Or, Southern Sugar Maple, Big Leaf Magnolia, Sawtooth Oak, Chinese Pistache (pistachio), Blue Beech, Sweetbay, Sassafras, Winged Elm, Cedar Elm, Black Gum, Tuliptree, Baldcypress, Sycamore, Longleaf Pine, Cow Oak, Burr Oak, Black walnut, American Elm, or Cottonwood.
