The Q&A Archives: pruning rhododendrums

Question: I have a huge rhodo that I want to prune to below my window. Reccommendations?

Answer: You can prune your rhododendron back by about one third without stressing it out too much. If you need to reduce the size more than that, plan on taking 2-3 years for the process. As soon as it has finished blooming you can prune it back. Best wishes with your rhodie!
