With pale leaves I wonder if your soil's pH is right for your rhodies? Hollytone should help, but it might be worth your while to have your soil tested. The only other thing that might affect leaf color is exposure to sunshine. Some rhodies prefer mostly shade and some will grow in partial sun. You might want to find out which variety you are growing and make sure it is getting the shade or sun exposure it requires. Clipping some of the affected leaves and taking them to your local cooperative extension office where they can be microscopically examined might be helpful, as well. You can even send them into the plant clinic for tissue testing. The pale leaves will probably green up once the shrubs are getting whatever nutrients they are missing.
