The Q&A Archives: Plastic covered dirt lawn

Question: Shrub, plant and flower removal from a front lawn has left a bare half of a lawn. Planted seeds 3 to 4 weeks ago have turned up nothing I believe due to landscaping plastic all over the lawn where the shrubs and plants were the seeds won't grow. Could I be wrong or do I have to pull it all up? PS the lawn's in Maryland.

Answer: Yes, you need to pull up all the plastic. While you're at it, spread some compost or other organic matter over the bare areas and work it into the soil. Then reseed and keep the area moist until the seeds germinate. Enjoy your lawn!
