Can you plant a perennial in a large pot above the ground and will it survie the winter in that pot? |
The answer really depends upon the perennial. Some are more hardy than others but you take a chance when the roots remain above ground during the winter months. Sometimes you can wrap insulation around the container and it will provide protection, but more often the plant roots will die. I would just consider anything you plant in the container to be an annual and expect to replace it each spring. Then, if a plant lives over the winter and sprouts in the spring it will be a bonus. Good luck with your garden! |
