Answer: Some vegetables are reluctant to grow unless the weather is warm and they get lots of sunshine. However, if you are growing yours indoors where the light is not nearly as intense as it would be outdoors, and then you set them in the sunshine, the leaves won't be able to tolerate the sunshine and will burn. It's best to place the plants outdoors in a shady area for a few days, then move them to an area with only a few hours of morning sun, then to a site with full morning sun plus a few hours of afternoon sun, then to a place where they get all day sunshine. This adjustment process will take only about a week but the leaves will gradually get used to the sun's rays. You can space your red onions 3-6 inches a part. This will give them plenty of room to grow. Enjoy!
