I have to be able to grow gardenias and have been told that the soil in this area is not good for growing them. I want to grow them in large pots for outdoors. What type of soil do I need and what type of gardenias are best for this area?

August Beauty is the best gardenia for your growing region. Make your own potting soil by mixing 2/3 Sphagnum Peat and 1/3 washed sand. Place your containers where they will get morning sun afternoon shade and your new gardenias should thrive. Enjoy!
