The Q&A Archives: 21-7-14 lawn fertilizer

Question: I see so many suggestions to use 21-7-14 fertilizer to treat against moss. Home Depot doesn't seem to sell it. Can you please point out another fertilizer that I can buy? Brian in Franklin, MA

Answer: The general rule for lawn fertilizers is to use one with a 3-1-2 ratio of NPK. You can use practically any combination as long as it has three times as much nitrogen as it has phosphorous. Choose a fertilizer with approximately a 3-1-2 ratio and your lawn will be quite happy.
