| What you describe is called soil solarization and it is effective in killing weeds and weed seeds if left in place for 4-6 weeks. It is recommended that you use clear plastic rather than black plastic (the UV rays help kill weed seeds). Just lay sheets of clear plastic over the area and anchor them down. Leave them in place until the end of July and all the weeds and weed seeds on the surface of the soil will be killed. Best wishes with your landscape. |
