got this tree last year from homedepot, the flower came out few weeks ago, but now noticed after the flower blooming, the leafs came out but later starting turn brown and looks dying, now only couple tinny leafs still on the tree. Can you tell me because of too much rain these days or my husband put too much peat moss around the trunk, plus mulchs on top. Can you help me on the tree. Thank you!

I suspect the wet weather is to blame for the browning leaf tips. Cherry trees can develop a fungal disease, especially if the spring is wet. It's too late to do anything to stop the problem now. I think as the ground dries out your tree will get healthier. Neither the mulch nor the peat moss will contribute to the problem. Overly wet soils can really stress the roots of trees and shrubs. Let's hope next spring is not as wet!
