The Q&A Archives: Germinating Olive Seeds

Question: My son brought olive seeds from a tree in Israel. How can we germinate the seeds?

Answer: Olea (Olive Tree) seeds will germinate in 30-120 days when sown 1/8 inch deep in moist seed starting mix, and kept at 65F to 70F degrees. To help retain moisture, place plastic wrap over the seed tray until the seeds germinate. Then transplant your new olive trees when the seedlings have three pairs of leaves.
