Bougainvilleas bloom on a cycle. After they bloom they rest, then they grow, then they flower and then rest again. The best time to prune them is right after they have finished flowering. Go ahead and prune them back now. They will rest for a short time and then grow new flowering stems and branches. Best wishes with your landscape!
