Recently, I bought a Lilac Tree. I planted it according to instructions, in the sun, using soil, organic peat humus and mulch on top. I made a dam around the tree and have been giving it a lot of sunshine and watering it every day. The tree was doing real well and was real healthy for a few weeks. But, now the leaves are curling up and slumping over and the tree looks like it is dying. What should I do? How do I bring it back to life?

It sounds like you're giving it great TLC, but maybe too much! You may have overwatered the shrub. It's best to base watering on how the soil feels - if it feels dry when you poke your fingers down an inch into the soil, or just under the mulch, you don't have to water. Leave it for a week without watering, and see how it responds. Let us know if it doesn't get any better! If you'd rather not wait, you can contact the nursery where you bought the lilac and discuss the situation with them - they should be able to offer a more specific response. Good luck!
