How deep and how far apart should I plant pole butterbeans?

Plant them so the top of the seed is about 1" deep. Whenever you don't know how deep to plant something, a good rule of thumb is 2-4 times the width of the seed.

Sow your seeds 4-6" apart and later thin plants to about a foot apart. Give them a trellis to grow on as they can really take off in a good, rich, moist garden soil!
