I have a roofed deck on the south side of my home that gets minimal direct sunlight throughout the day. We have tried several houseplants there during the summer and have had no luck. Are there any foliage plants that will thrive in pots on a shady deck and can be moved inside during the winter?

As long as the area gets at least diffuse sunlight, there are number of candidates that will fill the bill. Cut-leaf philodendron (Monstera deliciosa), many ferns, aralia and false aralia, apidistra, calathia, and fatshedera. There are many others, but this should get you started! Hope this helps!
