I have a orange "oozing" around the house foundation that looks like melted sherbet. What is it and how can we rid ourselves of it?

Run for cover, you're being invaded by SLIME MOLD. Seriously, and it is awful-looking stuff, isn't it? I've had it in my wood-chip mulch, and it has always disappeared after I've cultivated a bit. The dark, anaerobic environment (without oxygen) is ideal for the growth of this substance, so just stirring things up will help. Good luck!
