The Q&A Archives: Potatoes

Question: How will I know when my potatoes are ready to havest? I threw some old potatoes into my garden area during
the winter and come spring I got potatoes. . .everywhere!

Answer: Potatoes can be harvested when the tops die down, if you plan to store them over the winter months. This will generally occur with the first frost of the season. If you'd like to dig some small (or 'new' potatoes) you can harvest anytime after the flowers appear on the tops of the plants.
