Crabgrass is an annual warm season grass so it won't make a very attractive lawn. You can eliminate crabgrass with pre emergent herbicides applied early in the season to stop the crabgrass seeds from sprouting. Next February or March will be the best time to apply it to keep crabgrass from invading your lawn next spring. Digging or pulling it out now before it sets seeds can help, or you might just want to start over by renovating or removing your existing lawn, reseeding or sodding a new lawn, putting it on a regular watering, feeding and mowing schedule and coaxing it to grow lush and thick enough to crowd out future weeds. Let us know if you want to renovate your lawn and we'll provide guidance. Best wishes with your lawn.
