The Q&A Archives: Daffodils and Tulips

Question: Is it okay to trim the green leaves off the daffodils and tulips when the flowers have died off, or is it best to let the leaves die naturally before cutting off?

Answer: It is fine to trim back the stems and faded flowers, but you should leave the foliage in place to grow and then allow it to fade and dry up naturally before you remove it. This process rebuilds the bulbs so they can bloom next year.
