The Q&A Archives: lawn repair

Question: My wife accidently sprayed the lawn with Ortho weed & grass killer , instead of just the weed killer. What can we do?

Answer: Start by flooding the area to try and dilute the product. The next step is to wait and see. If only the top of the grass is killed, the roots will produce healthy new blades. If the roots have been killed, you'll have to renovate your lawn by raking out the dead grass and reseeding the area. I hope it doesn't come to that, but there's really no way to neutralize the chemical once it is on the lawn. Let's hope for the best!
