Clematis likes its top in the sun and the roots in the shade. You can try feeding your clematis to help it green up or you can prune it down to encourage healthy new growth. If it is planted in the wrong spot, you might want to move it to a sunnier spot. Or, you can employ all three suggestions: move it to a better spot, cut it down to encourage healthy new growth, and feed it with a general purpose 20-20-20 (such as Miracle Gro). Hope this helps.
