my wife buys her anuals from home-depot.we live in RHODE ISLAND.she puts 12 large pots with anuals along the deck.when is the best time to start this,so they last all summer.its half shade-half sun??????????? thanks john conaty also time for tomato plants

Gardening time is almost here! You can plant Memorial Day weekend because the last average frost for your region is mid-May. Be prepared to cover your plants if a late frost threatens - you just never know!! Best wishes with your garden!
