You can pop them out, roots and all with a hand trowel, or use a spot treatment such as Round Up and spray only the individual weeds. Even after a dandelion is killed it can still spread its seeds through its blossom. So before spraying Round Up on the plant itself, you need to manually remove the dandelion flower from its stem. This can be quite a task but is the only way to fully prevent the dandelion from going to seed.
