| I have a pond in my backyard and I purchased 2 waterlilies for it because I had hoped they would help keep the pond free of algae. I have heard that waterlilies can take over, so I am undecided as to whether or not to put them into the pond. Can you advise me as to what my best plan of action should be? Thank you. |
| Water lilies can become invasive if planted in the bottom of a pond so I'd recommend planting them in containers and sinking the containers into the pond. This way you can control their growth. Pull up the containers every spring and either divide the plants or repot the entire root mass into a slightly larger container. Waterlilies can help shade the water which can slow algae growth.
