The Q&A Archives: Hungry Critters

Question: I have planted several kinds of annuals and the bunnies and/or squirrels eat all of the blooms off the plant. Any suggestions?

Answer: A protective barrier is about the only way to keep those pesky critters from destroying your plants. I make cylinders out of hardware cloth or chicken wire to protect my annuals and perennials. These barriers will be temporary until the squirrels and bunnies figure out they can't feast in your garden. When that happens they will go elsewhere and your can remove the cyliners. Best wishes with your garden!
