The Q&A Archives: cucumber plants

Question: Why are my cucumber plants on making male flowers? I planted 2 months ago and no cucumbers!

Answer: Are you sure they are only producing male flowers? Sometimes female flowers are not properly pollinated and they will fall off the plant the way male flowers do. Male flowers are attached with a straight stem: female flowers have a slight swelling behind the petals. If you find both male and female flowers on your plant, remove the male and brush the inside of the flower against the inside of the female flowers. This will help transfer pollen and should result in cucumbers. Hope so!
