Answer: It sounds as though at least one of your ficus is trying to live. If you plant it, it will grow into a shrub and you can train it into a tree shape by removing all the branches and sprouts along the main stem. Ficus are relatively fast growing so it may take a few years, but eventually it will become a tree. If you want faster results, you can replace your ficus. There was a hard freeze in your area about 3 years ago and almost all the ficus trees were affected. But they recovered and now you can barely see which ones were damaged.
