Weedy vines such a Virginia Creeper and grape can be difficult to eradicate because of established root systems. You can try digging it out, you can try cutting it off short and smothering it under a heavy layer of newpaper/cardboard topped with mulch to block all light, or you can use an herbicide containing glyphosate. If you do this, be careful to read and follow the instructions and pay close attention to the suggested timing. In many instances a late summer application can be more effective. Good luck with your eradication project!
