We have had trouble with cats digging in our garden. Any suggestions on how to keep them out? |
Cats don't like to step on anything springy so lay crumpled chicken wire over your garden beds and plant in the holes (or cut larger holes to accommodate larger plants. If your bed is already planted, drive stakes around the perimeter of the bed and string nylon fishing line criss-cross fashion from stake to stake. Keep the line only 6 inches above the top of the soil and don't allow any more than 12 inches between crosses of line. This will keep the cats from digging and soiling the bed. If neither of these approaches work (cats are creatures of habit), try covering the top of the soil with organic matter that's no fun to dig in. (Try straw or large pieces of bark.) |
