Here are a few suggestions for a shady spot: Buxus microphylla (Japanese Boxwood), Ilex vomitoria 'Nana' (dwarf yaupon holly), Rhododendron obtusum (Kurume hybrid azaleas), Aucuba japonica, Erythrina herbacea (Cherokee bean), Hydrangea macrophylla, Viburnum suspensum (Sandankwa viburnum), Illicium parviflorum (Anise), Pittosporum tobira (Pittosporum). Best wishes with your garden.
