I live in Denver & wanted advice on annual, perennial, and tree types for this climate that don't need much care - I travel alot...

Cottonwood trees are probably the fastest growing in your region, Douglas Firs grow quickly and are evergreen, Linden, elm, ash, aspen and maple are all good tree choices for your landscape. The following website from Colorado State University has a list of recommended perennials.
