The most likely candidate are slugs or snails. They find hosta leaves irresistable. These pests feed mostly at night so go outdoors with a flashlight after dusk and you'll probably find them. If so, an iron based control product such as Sluggo should control them. Apply according to label directions. Good luck with your hostas.
