The Q&A Archives: Too Much Fertilizer

Question: I put to much fertizant on my grass and now I have a lot of white spats on my grass, how can I fix it?

Answer: Too much fertilizer can burn the grass and the grass roots, too, so you may have to rake out the damaged grass and overseed with fresh grass seed. Before doing that, though, try to overwater the lawn to rinse off or leach out the excess fertilizer. If you don't, the grass seeds may not sprout. A nice soaking rain would help to leach out the fertilizer, too, so maybe you'll get a rainstorm soon. Hope so!
