I have a giant tomato plant the tomato's are large but when you cut them ,they are mushy and bugy, also they have a lot of lines on them |
The damage you describe is from a tomato fruit worm (same thing as tobacco bud worm, corn earworm and cotton boll worm). They can be very damaging and not easily controlled because the worms feed directly in the fruit. Bt. products such as Dipel and Thuricide are not as effective but I would still recommend using Bt. and mixing a teaspoon of liquid detergent per gallon of spray and direct it at the fruit. Spray every 5 days for 5 consecutive days since the Bt biodegrades during periods of high temperature and sun exposure. Apply sprays late in the evening. Hope this helps protect your future tomatoes. |
