While growing orchids from seed is possible, it is an exacting process and most people are not successful. Seed orchids can take nearly 10 years to flower and the plants will not be true to the parent. The American Orchid Society has detailed instructions on the process. (Do a web search for their website.)

Orchids bloom best when root bound so if your plant is truly in need of repotting, use the next largest pot, but nothing larger than that. Wait until flowering has finished and the plant is resting before repotting. Enjoy your beautiful orchid.
