The Q&A Archives: Spinach plants are yellow

Question: I grew spinach from seed and cannot figyre out why the leaves are so pale. The lettuce growing adjacent to the spinach is perfect. Same conditions for both.

Answer: Spinach grows best in cool weather and lettuces enjoy the heat. I suspect that your spinach is stressed from the weather. Try growing it early in the season (when you plant peas) or start your seeds in late summer so the plants can grow in the cooler fall months. Best wishes with your garden!
