Hi! We planted a passion vine 1 year ago. It was later completely eaten down by caterpillars, but came back impressively this spring with full foliage and blooms. In the past couple of weeks the caterpillars returned again and ate the entire vine again. Will this vine rebound again, and if so, when should we expect it to? Is there any hope of it coming back to life this summer? |
Ordinarily I would suggest a control for the caterpillars but in this case, it's important to know the passion flower vine is the host food for Gulf Fritillary Butterflies. If you control the caterpillars, you'll kill off the next generation of butterflies. The plants usually rebound once the caterpillars stop feeding. Good luck with your landscape! |
