Your bulbs will perform better if they are in amended soil. If you cannot dig the soil, add organic matter (such as compost) and then plant your bulbs, maybe you can plant them in containers instead? If you have planter boxes or containers where you can control the type of growing media, your bulbs will perform better than if you just pop them into the ground without at least some compost so the roots can grow well. Hope this information helps you decide how and where to plant your bulbs.
