| I planted two roses in Jan 2009. One bloomed for a short while in April. The other keeps on growing but has not bloomed yet. What is the problem? Thanks Sadie |
| Roses grow best in full sunshine, in well amended soils. Your roses should be well established by now and blooming so they are not getting quite what they need in terms of growing conditions or care. If you have not fed your roses, use a specially blended rose food in amounts as recommended on the label. Be sure to water deeply once or twice a week and mulch over the soil to help conserve moisture and regulate soil temperatures. You didn't mention whether or not you pruned your roses when they first began to grow this spring. Pruning encourages new growth and most of that should develop flowers. Try pruning them each back to promote additional growth. If they are getting everything they need in terms of sunshine (minimum 8 hours), water and food, they will bloom for you. Enjoy! |
