| We live in SE Mass. The first year our Sand Cherry looked great, nice red leaves, pretty white flowers. The 2nd year something ate it after the leaves formed before it got flowers. Beetle bags did not help. Others in the neighborhood looked fine. This year, something is eating it as the leaves are forming. All the others in the neighborhood are being eaten also. Silk worm/catipillars maybe? |
| I'd go out at different times of the day (including early morning and late evening) to try and catch the culprits in action. Caterpillars are easier to control than Japanese beetles. You can use Bt (sold as Dipel or Thuricide) which is effective against caterpillars. Or, for beetles, use a pyrethium based spray (BugX). Best wishes with your sand cherry. |
