Kniphofia, or red hot poker, can grow from 2' to 6' tall and wide. Most remain between 2-3' wide and tall. These plants will grow in average, moist to dry soils, in full sunshine. They are quite adaptable and won't need any special care. You can feed once a year in spring to encourage healthy new growth. Most of the roots will be concentrated in the top 12 inches of soil so if you have shallow soil, a red hot poker should be just fine. Good luck with your new plant!
