| I live in Ohio. I have a small lilac bush that I wish to transplant. I think it is done blooming. Can I move it now or should I wait until the fall? Should I trim it back, and if so do I do it before or after the move? Thank you for your help. |
| If your lilac has finished blooming you can prune it back now. You can prune it back by as much as one third if that will make the move easier. You should be able to move it now, providing you dig it carefully so as not to sever too many roots, and if you keep it well watered until it re-establishes itself in its new home. It should have plenty of time to develop new flowering growth this summer so you'll have blooms next spring. Enjoy! |
