| We have planted some tomato plants this year in containers. I've noticed that the leaves, which are very healthy looking, not dried, no insects, etc. are curling upwards along their longitudinal axis. The containers have gravel at the bottom, then soil, and then a layer of mulch on top. Is this a problem of too much/little water and/or too much/little fertilizer, or what?? |
| Some leaf curl is natural, usually a response to high temperatures. It's possible there is a problem, but if the plant looks healthy, the new growth looks good, and the leaves are not diseases, then I wouldn't worry. Just be sure to give the plants an even supply of moisture, since moisture stress can damage the plant and developing fruit--and make it more susceptible to other problems. Some insects, diseases, and viruses can cause leaves to curl, so inspect the plant carefully for other symptoms. |
