The Q&A Archives: lipstick plant/flowering

Question: do the flowering (hanging) lipstick plants draw hummingbirds?
I've tried other flowers said to addract them and put up a feeder but so far no luck.
The first yr here in NC I had plenty coming around.. but the last 2 yrs none...Please help me.

Answer: Lipstick plant should attract hummingbirds. Hummingbirds are generally attracted to plants that have red tubular flowers such as firebush, coral vine, rock penstemon, and red yucca. They also like Salvia guaranitica, trumpet vine, red or yellow columbines and cardinal climber vine. Try adding another plant or two and I think the hummers will show up. Enjoy!
