Tomato plant suckers are new little side branches that grow in the joint between the main stem and older side stems. They make the plant very dense and bushy and also heavy. Some gardeners like to remove some or most of them, while other gardeners leave them on the plant. If you decide to remove the suckers, pinch them off with your fingernails or use pruners.
