| We transplanted an 8 year old rose bush from my Moms house (3blocks away) to our garden 3 days ago. Have watered it everyday. But it looks wilted and sad. Do I feed it something? |
| I think your rose will perk up as soon as the roots become re-established. Don't water every day. Even though the plant is wilted and looks like it needs watering, it really doesn't. If you keep the soil too moist you can suffocate the roots. Just water throughly and then wait a few days and check the soil's moisture content by digging down a few inches. If the soil is still moist 2 inches below the soil surface, you won't need to water for a few days. If it feels barely damp or almost dry, it's time to water again. When you do water, water deeply so the entire rootmass gets wet. Once or twice a week is all your rose bush needs in terms of water. It should perk up within the next 7-10 days. When it does you can feed it lightly. After it begins putting out new growth you can cut back any dead or sad looking stems to help renew your rose bush. It should be just fine. Enjoy! |
