For tomatoes,the box says 1T per gallon H2O per plant. Can I sprinkle the crystals around the plant or must I put it in H2O?

It is better to make a solution and pour it on the soil around your plant. This way the fertilizer can reach the entire root zone. If you don't want to be bothered with mixing a fertilizer solution you can feed with a granular time release fertilizer, broadcasting it around the base of the plant. Good luck with your tomatoes!
