I have just purchased new terra cotta planters for several container gardens. I thought I heard that I should soak these pots in water before adding any potting soil. Is this true? Thanks for the help. |
Terra cotta is porous and will soak up water quickly. If you soak them first and then fill with potting soil they will be off to a good start. If you do not soak them first but simply fill them with potting soil, they will wick the moisture of the potting soil in a hurry. So, soak, then fill with moistened potting soil, then plant and everything should balance out. Enjoy your container garden! |
