Someone from Scott's referred me to a meadow mix that I could use for a lawn substitute. Would this hold up under moderate foot traffic, a rambunctious dog (and her droppings) and fog alternated with sun and shade? Any other suggestions?

An Eco-Lawn mix would hold up under the conditions you describe. If you're interested in other plants, consider Zoysia tenuifolia (Korean Grass), Carex squalida (New Zealand Brass Buttons), or Arenaria (Sandwort). You might want to vist a few local nurseries so you can look at each plant and make your decision based upon color, leaf shape and growth habit.
