| I've been told that after my tulip blomssoms fade away I should cut off all of the plant at ground level. The idea is that the bulb will grow stronger and larger for next season. Seems to me that the bulb woulld need the leaves to attain energy from the sunlight. The question is to cut or not to cut. |
| You can cut the stem and flower down when they're finished, but leave the foliage on the plant. The bulb needs the energy provided by the leaves to remain healthy and produce next year's bloom. If the yellowing foliage is unattractive, push it down to soil level, or gather and tie it, holding it down with a stone. After the leaves turn brown you can pull them and remove them from the garden. |
